Is there a difference between a oil pan for a jet and oil pan for a v-drive or are they the same pan? How much clearance do you usually have under the oil pan when the motor is mounted in the boat (Jet boat) Is there anything special I need to be aware of when purchasing an oil pan other the right pan for the right motor. Thanks for your help !........GARY I don't know if this is the place to ask but how do you post pictures on here...

when you post if you look down to your bottom left you will see Additional Options. click on that and you will a space that says Attach with a blank space and then a button that says Browse. use that to post pics. hope this helps. good luck. jim

No real diffence in the pan persay . The diffrence is on the inside . The v-drive pan sits in the boat backwards which means in a marine pan app. there is going to be baffles for oil control and will be realative for each application . A v-drive pan also requires that the oil pump pick-up be extended to the front of the pan and therefore the baffles keep the oil to the front of the pan as well . A jet pan , pick-up , baffles are set-up more like it would be in a car . Can I confuse you any further ?

Another difference is that jetboat guys always use used stuff (read cheap) and Vee-drive guys only use top dollar, brand new chiney stuff. >:D

The most important thing to remember in oil pans is this. If you have a 460 use an armondo's pan!
Never, I repeat NEVER use a Milodon pan on a 460, it isn't worth the risk.
