Cracked Snail Riser

Anyone ever crack the bolt flange off trying to remove from log??  I did! :) Wondering if I should weld it cut my losses and buy one...

Here it is before breaking... its a 4bolt 4” across studs.  I feel like they had been JB welder on...

I just took one of my snails off to replace the leaking gasket.  The log had some serious gouges in it (might have been from me wrestling the snail off).  You can fill the area with jb weld, slap a new gasket on it, and let it cure in a vise with the snail pointed toward the ground so jb weld doesn't run  too deep into the cooling passages.  I've got jb weld in the 4 cooling passages, but no thicker than .25" deep.

I would buy a new one the cheap and if that breaks while it's in the boat it could sink it

Good call... I’ve already been down that road.. blew a bellow this summer.  My brother abandoned ship on me hahaha it was worth the rubber and the swim to see him jump!
