Title: oil pressure sending unit
Post by: radryan on April 25, 2015, 07:55:08 AM
I've got a 78 cvx-20 jet with a  460 and the oil sender crapped out. Went to the auto store and these guys look at me like I'm an alien because I can't give them a year/make/model of a vehicle. Anyone have a part number or year/make/model that will work. It has the big single wire one on it.. Thx

Its best to figure out what brand/kind of gauge it is- autometer, s/w, faria, etc. and get the sending unit that matches.

Napa had a S/W sending unit for mine.

Search my thread for gauges. I went thru the same deal when I replaced my gauges, bought them with no sending units. There is a way to check the ohn resistance.
GT Jets pointed me in the right direction

All depends on the gauge. They're not all the same

Gauges use different Ohm ranges. 0-90 for GM, 240-33 for Stewart Warner and others, plus other ranges. Oil gauge max psi also matters. You need a part number off your sender or gauge to get the correct part.

The boat I just picked up has a GM sender with a Beede gauge so it reads incorrectly and pressure goes down with RPM. The sender is 0-90 and gauge is 240-33.
