Does anyone know of the tool used to suck the oil out through your dipstick? Or is there any secrets out there.

Wow it must be the season. I was going to ask the same question. I have to change the oil on my BBC and my wifes Jet Ski. There are vacuum pumps hooked to a can that sucks the oil out. They are about 60.00. I am going to use an RV 12v pump that I got a while ago (for another project). I am going to try that pump and suck it out with some different size hoses and such. There is also the Jasbsco pump kit if you want to be there all day holding a drill.

If you can struggle through this drain time, why don't you pull the oil pan drain plug, drill and tap it and then install a valve and a hose so you can make life a little easier the next time. I'll try to take a photo of what I did. I got all the parts from Lowe's and may have cost me $20.00 total. Now all I have to do is warm the motor enough to flow the oil better, run the hose out the jet pump's bilge drain hole and stick the hose through there and into a large enough container to hold the old oil, open the valve and let it run out. I suggest you go no smaller on the hose than 3/8". 20w50 oil is pretty thick even when warm.

Jet boat shops sell a hose with hardware that will replace the existing dip stick and allow you to drain the oil, takes a few days to get all of the oil out.

A few days??? Summer is here and I don't think we have days to drain the oil. ;D

tom over at jbp sells the hose kits, replaces the existing drain plug, picked up one for mine, makes life alot easier

Sweet. Yes it is that time. Ive always heard about people pulling the oil drain plug and pumping out through the bilge. What a mess.

Ya I bought one of those kits comes with the 90 to go onto the pan drain plug hole, and then a high pressure hose with a cap on the end. The hose runs out my transom drain hole and into a bucket. Go grab a cold one and kick back. EFFORTLESS!!!!!! ;D ;D

Now I just have to get the oil out.
This is what i use.....It mounts to the stringer and the black hose is connected to the pan. The clear hose is your drain hose, and the red and black wires are self explanatory ;D Wire it direct or use alligator clips... Its just to easy, turn the knob on top of the pump and sit down and have a beer ;)

My mom works for McMaster-Carr so getting the pieces to make these oil changing contraptions should be easy.

Just buy an evacuator from the tool truck. Those work great!

My plan is to pull the oil filter, and pump the oil out with a priming tool. I figure I have my engine pretty well sealed up, I'm going to need the disti out to add oil anyway!

Yep, I just tried it with an old electric fuel pump sucking old oil out of and back into a bucket. I think it's more fun though just letting gravity take the oil out and drinking beer the whole time you're waiting. ;D

I get ALL my stuff from Mcmaster. The best place in the world. I wired my whole boat, aluminum tubing for tig welded pickup tubes, stainless nuts and bolts. The list is endless.

HAHA. The jokes stop when you guys found out i had a catalog. They only give them to customers that have an account or employees. There really stingy on giving them out. I have my copy in a gun safe, buried in my backyard. Its almost like gold to some people.
