What kind of oil are you guys running in your 460s? I had no clue what was in my boat before, and i swapped it to some Mercury 25W-40, but I had to swap my heads and im going to have to change it again. Im just wondering if anyone has a preference of what kind of oil to run. My motor is mostly stock with a mild cam in it. Thanks

Whatever oil you decide to run, just make sure it has enough zinc in it.

I have a 460 and run valvoline VR1 20w-50.

I ended up getting 10 quarts of staight Valvoline 10w-40. Would it be wise to pull out a quart or so an add some sort of zinc-containing substitute?
Thanks for the replies!!

VR1 is high in zinc.
