Title: Oily transom

Everytime I run the boat I end up with oil on my transom, gas tanks, battery, you get the idea. It's a 468 BBC, Melling HV pump, finned aluminum valve covers with moroso baffles on the underside, K&N push in breathers. I also have a set of bolt on aluminum stack type breathers I haven't installed yet, my question is;
Do you guys think the additional breathers will cure my problem?
What about a puke tank?
What about evac tubes off the headers? Will evacs work with slip in baffles?

Other than the oily mess after each session, the boat runs perfect, anyone got any other ideas?

How much oil are you losing on the dipstick? Sounds to me like possibly a rear main seal or more likely a v/c gasket, breather grommet, Dizzy o-ring?

Put some oil soak pads around the bilge area with duct tape like a fence and run it to see if you can ID where the spray is coming from. Just an Idea. (Gonna do that with my blue one to see where it's leaking a little bit, I suspect an oil pan gasket)

Sounds like time to do a leak down test and see how bad the rings are.  Puke tank would help minimize or eliminate some of the mess,  and I can understand you not wanting to pull the engine down right at the beginning of the season, but might as well know what is causing the problem.

Hey Skip, I'll trade you.  Mine pushes oil out the dipstick during a long, moderate run. 

I've gonna pick up my leak down tester from my FIL, so I can do some checking.  But I'm thinking it's gonna need to be gone through  :'(

I forgot to mention, it didn't do this until I changed a few things;

Valve covers, went from chrome stamped steel with box type baffles to finned aluminum with no baffles, both covers had K&N filter breathers installed.  I added some of these (https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.summitracing.com%2Fglobal%2Fimages%2Fprod%2Flarge%2Fmor-68790.jpg&hash=9e875d9c77e21d57e4efc715ad7acefe5f618734)

The oil pan, went from a rear sump 8 qt pan to a breadbox style 10 qt pan, new pan has windage tray and trap doors and all that happy shit.

I really don't want to add a PCV as I don't have a vacuum port to hook it to and don't really relish the thought of drilling into my spacer.  Any thoughts fellas? I'm tired of wiping the oil off every trip.

u talking about where they thread into the collector? those baffles have fiberglass in them right?...im sure it would generate enough exhaust pressure to create the vacuum, even w/ the baffles in...thats what im thinking but im just the prospect so go figure  :screwy:

Measure your baffles and then place the e-vac tube just in front.
Problem solved.

I set my e-vacs about 9 1/2" back from the tip. The slip ins I measured were 8" long. Should be fine when we turn it back into a family boat.
