ok i have finally figured out how to setup the plumbing on my boat and then i realise that my berkeley ex logs have no way pre heat the water before it enters the motor :sly:
i understand that this is the way its should be hooked up ?

well the problem is my exhaust only has one place for a water line to go to (except for the back part) and it fills up the entire water cavity in the log ,. where should the line go that water exits and goes into the block ?
if i made some big pissers at the end of the log would that solve my problem and redirect the hot water into the motor ?

Some logs had the water from the pump to the back (lower rear) of the logs, (not the snails) and out the front of the log > to front of the motor, w/p plate > out thermostat housing > to the snails

,.it would be awesome if you guys can help me understand how its supposed to be setup and WTF a waterpump is doing on there ,..the water comes from the pump and goes into the T on top the motor , then it possibly flows water into the waterpump, intake mani, and the logs ,. im not sure exactly which way the water flows but the berkeley ''T'' is a open water chamber inside , so im guessing it flows water through both the top and bottom of the motor ?
the Berkeley logs only have one place (except snails) for water to go into and thats the 2 black hoses coming off the "T" ,.. so this is what has me confused . i dont see any place for water to be preheated through the manifolds without exiting the exhaust ,
im guessing that these exhaust were not designed to preheat the water going into the motor ?

i found another video of a 455 with the same style manifolds that i have but i dont think they are berkeleys ,. could i modify my exhuast to run like these and then run a gasket between the manifold and riser to seperate the cooling water and the water going through the snails ?

nevermind guys i found my answer VIA my best friend "google" ,.. i found the original owners manual / full engine/electrical blueprint schematic !! :screwy: ;D
it turns out that my setup it whats known as the "Berkeley Pack-a-Jet" ,..these logs were not designed to preheat the water ,. they also used a car style waterpump on these to try and recirculate the water :thumbdown: ,.. if you look at the diagram its fuking stupid ,.it shows water magically going into the intake manifold from the top , and then coming back out of it to be dumped through the ex,.. water CANNOT flow in and out of the intake manifold at the same time !!!! ::)
so my plans are to modify my EX to run like a normal log heated jet boat ,i removed the waterpump and ordered a blockoff plate and fittings from CP performance,.. from the pump i will tapping a few water fittings in the logs to preheat the water and send it to the block ,. by doing this i will tap a fitting in the top and bottom and T them off going to the pump line ,. then i will run a solid gasket between the logs and the risers so water from the pump does not go into the snails ,. only water from the thermo housing will enter the snails ,..like this.... this it will work ? >:D ...IMO it makes 110% perfect sense to run it like this ,.. its not a car it dont need to be cooled like one ,.doing it like this is how jet skis are ran and they work amazing and make great power ,..keeps the hot parts cool and the cold parts hot ,.. like it should be ,.. ok enough rambling , just getting bored waiting for parts to show up,.. like watching paint dry after a 5hr airbrush session :mad:

I think pac-a-jet used a thremostat setup with that water pump. seen that in the first video.
Thats how my bbc is plumbed, (logs and snails) and a gate valve at the pump. the motor runs 135*-140* cruising, 150*-160* in the no wake zone, gate valve is full on. A gate valve is useful if a waterline/fitting breaks, and can be closed long enough to get to shore/dock, without flooding the boat. Used it twice- 1 freeze/core plug failure and 1 temp sender missing :screwy:
A thermostat is not needed in the set-up you want to use.
