454 Chevy Question
« on: March 20, 2012, 06:31:47 PM »
Hello,

I am trying to figure out what the hole is on the fly wheel casing on my 454 chevy BB engine. Looks like there is supposed to be a cover on it but there is not. Bought the boat a couple weeks ago, just saw it this weekend, I am new to boat motors and could use your help ;D. If you need any more info to help me figure this out let me know. Thanks in advance.

its to look at the flywheel and to put a tool in there to manually turn the engine over.

Yeah i think it is, i think the previous owner switched the location And didnt cover that location. We will probably machine a cover to cover the hole along with a gasket. Should that be sufficient? Thanks guys

No gasket necessary, nothing to leak out  ;)
