Hello I need some help with my boat. I took it out today and it was running awesome, later on that day as I was hitting the gas the boat would bog down and die then it kept getting worse it would bog down every 100-200ft but I could start it back up no prob with starter fluid spray. It really felt like it was getting no gas but I had a half tank. Is it my carb? Its brand new. Is it the fuel pump? Its like 1 yr old ? Please help I am a complete idiot when it comes to engines

Stop using the starter fluid asap. It will kill your piston rings.
What's the fuel pressure?
What carb? What motor?
Need some more details. Sounds like a fuel issue, too much, clogged pick ups, etc.

As well what kind of fuel tanks? Aluminum, stainless, steel, fiberglass?

Sounds like your floats may be loose. If your carb is brand new, they could be loose. As you drive the screw down and you dont have enough fuel in the bowls to keep it running. You may also have a tiny air leak somewhere around the pump. This would cause the pump to suck air, and not get fuel to the carb. Do you have an electric or mecahnical fuel pump? If electrical you could have a wire going loose when you are driving. So when you key the power, the bowls fill up until you try and drive, you lose the ground for example and the pump stops working and the carb gets no fuel.

Its a old 455 with edleb carb with a manual fuel pump and I belive the tanks are aluminum

I would Check fuel filters for debris first, do you have a fuel pressure gauge on the carb/fuel line? Looking for that magic 7psi.

im going to guess you fuel filter is clogged. either clean it or replace it and you will probably be good to go

I am going to say one thing no one has said! Water in your fuel!!!! Drain some gas look at it!!! It's usually the first thing to check!!!

Run the fuel line off the pump into a small 1-2gal tank to take from... Easy way to determine which direction to go.

Do not set eddys up for 7 psi, it will blow right past the needle and seat. There good for about 5.5-6.
