So I'm looking at a moroso 10 qt pan for my olds. I have a stock volume  oilpump w press in pick up. Summit says it's 7 1/4 deep at the sump my original auto pan is 7 inches. I can use my stock setup right? All that fancy bolt on pickup stuff I can only find hv pumps I'm not down w an hv pump because  I don't wanna push all my oil upstairs  comments?

Me and most guys on here with olds all run a hv pump. I've got a 12qrt pan right now and I just did return lines from the heads to pan and it was the best thing i ever did. I don't have any restrictors or any of that bs. Iff your motors pulled Id recommend doing this. I can run 5k rpms all day long without pumping my valve covers full of oil

  it's out bro heads are in the machine shop it's now a short block I did put oil restrictors in number 2 3 and 4 already.  U think an hv pump l be ok? I may look into doing what you did pretty  sweet drains I'm planning  on aluminum heads next season what did u do just tap the pan and go right through  the raised side of the head?

Yup drill and tapped a 3/8 npt hole. There's a old hot boat article and it has the exact measurements on where to do it I have it saved on my iPad if u need it u can probably Google it tho

I really just want yo kno whether a stock pick up will fit in the pan or naw

It'll fit but probably won't be in the bottom of the pan where you want it

I run an olds 455 I have had mine to 4500 maybe a little higher but not much. And I try not to keep it there longer than a min or so. Now I have a 10 qt. pan with the right pickup . Stock oil pump and I maintain 40 psi off idle . About 20 idling warm . No oil restrictions just opened up the oil returns in the heads.

Yah but that is a sbc ! The oil system is bullet proof!!! Hell the whole motor is. Now a olds has its issues . I really like it but I do have to watch what I do to it.

I've had tons of street chevys and one pontiac. Never messed w olds until now but yea that's what I've been reading
