Where's the best place to buy a water and fuel pressure gauges and not going to the dash, where's the best place to mount them in the engine area? What's the maximum pressure settings for both?

Was this question too deep for those who viewed this and those who knew they didn't know, didn't bother to even look? And I thought there were a lot of pro boaters on this forum.

Like to help you, but I'm not from your area, so... don't know what shops to buy from (myself, I get from where I work ;) at cost ;D)
...and for the gauges, I have a water pressure relief system so pressure never goes over 20(ish) PSI and still have great flow.
The Oil gage for me is dash mounted electric that always sits at 80PSI, sender reads pressure before the filter. Not sure that helps you much.
I think for tunning it might be nice to have the gauges off the motor, but since most of my time is behind the wheel... dash gauges for me 8)

Thanks Rebel, I appreciate your comments. I think I would need a water pressure gauge so I can set my relief valve. At most I think it goes to 50 psi. As for fuel, I would think a gauge would be needed to set the flow rate from the regulator.

LoL, my bad, I should have read your post with both eyes open :o didn't notice that you said fuel gauge, thought it was oil... ::)
Just to add, I said 20PSI on the water pressure relief valve, but that was wrong. It's set at 10PSI. ;)
As for the fuel gauge and pressure setting... need to know your set up? If carburetted set PSI to 7.5 and mount the fuel gauge anywhere
you like. I would use a remote gauge for setting reg. and then remove it myself. Choice of placement is yours is you want to leave it
in view mounted to the motor. Seen some that looked good, but not my taste ;D

That's what I would like to do, set it up with the gauges and then remove them. Check every once in a while to make sure nothing had changed. It's got a 750 carb on it. If I were to leave the gauges, I sure wouldn't want them out in the open, more down in the engine well. I've got the oil gauge and it is in the dash. So it'll stay.

Some of the Holley fuel lines have a 1/8npt plug that can be removed for installing a small fuel gauge at the carb. The gauge I have is a Mallory that is only 1 1/2" diameter. You should be able to get one from summit/jegs if you don't have a good speed shop near you.
The water pressure gauge I don't have much info because I have not used one yet.

you could always use 2 gauges for fuel. One on the motor, and a "remote" fuel pressure gauge for the dash area, it uses a diaphram off the engine area and a hose to the gauge in the dash , you fill it w/ coolant, so if the hose breaks for some "odd" reason you wont spray fuel all over, thats is whats in my buddies race car...
im still learning about the water pressure thing...

That looks like a great idea and not stuck out for everyone to see. Where did you get the gauge? Now I need a gauge for water pressure. How high should the PSI show for water?

Thanks for the info but I really don't want another gauge on the dash, so just one back between the regulator and the carb will be fine.

I bought the guage from holley. And I don't know much about water pressure in a boat , but if you think about it , how much pressure do you have in a truck radiator? The highest I have ever seen on a radiator cap was 13lbs , my truck cap says 11lbs and it's never cracked anything. So I would guess around 10lbs. I personally run mine straight from the pump to the engine with no regulator and have never had a problem.

Summit has the Fuel pressure gauge but back ordered on the water pressure. I guess I'll just go ahead and order and then just wait. No big rush right now anyway. Too damn cold to get in the water and I'm still installing the Place Diverter and doing a re-wire job. I don't the work ever ends on a boat. :D :D :D
