So I got the new motor in a few months ago and finally got to take it out on monday. Ran great had 79psi oil pressure while at speed and 60ish at idle. Run up to the 2nd island north of big river sat there had a few cold ones and went to leave and it was hard to start. Had to turn it over while pumping the peddle for a bit.7-10 secs. the fuel was from april which might be part of the problem. went up to the cove sat there for a bit and same problem. it started a bit sooner than first time still was hard to start. cruised all the way back to the park. RPM's never above 4000rpm. cruised most of the way at 3000rpm's and H2O temp was right around 110*. Fuel issue? I have a brand new filter on it.

Could be a few things: Are your float bowls level when running? If they are to high they might be dripping fuel into the motor and flooding it. If they are level it might be running a little rich on idle so try turning your idle screws in a quarter turn.

Just for clarification, did it crank over normally and was starving for fuel or slow cranking then lighting-up?

It was cranking normal and just would fire. I was thinking it was a fuel issue. But it did fire right up after dinner that night.
I will check the floats next time out which will be the scjb big river trip.

check and clean needle and seat in carb. i would put a fuel regulator and gauge on to. depending on carbs i set the fuel pressure.

I was thinking about this and could it be the coil getting hot and maybe weak?

What's your timing set at?

try not to pump the throttle when its warm,if that's not it try holding the throttle wide open. Once warm with the carb tuned properly it shouldn't need extra fuel to start.

My uncle set it when we put it in and he puts them at 36*
