I have never timed an engine before how hard is it to time my 454

It's extremely easy. Slightly loosen your distributor hold down, hook up the timing light to the engine, rev up the engine to around 3500 RPM's, adjust the distributor by slowly turning it, you want the timing marks lined up around 35 degree's.
