Is it common for PTO's not to Match up with the same Generations of blocks. Took the pto off my buddy's Gen iv bbc when I was trying to put it on my gen iv bbc it will not go on. I read a few post on here about the flywheel and flexplate thing. And Im kinda thinking he had a flywheel on his engine. Due to the fact that the diameter of what is on my crank is larger then what's on my pto. I couldn't be 100% forsure due to his engine being parted out over the last few months. Can I get the current pto machined to fit my crank and dowel ?

are they differnt cause the flywheel /flexplate thing or its it something else. The bolt patterns match up both on crank and drive line. Can get it machined or am I better off looking for a new one?
