Got to remember, most of the instances, these things are built with the following considerations: 1) It has run on pump gas 2) needs to have a warranty 3) for a fairly low price as compared to a custom build (11k) 4) most, if not all, parts are straight out of the box 5) and God knows what the hell some knucklehead that buys it is gonna actually put it in and how they're gonna tune and run it... so it can't be application specific.

With those factors in mind... it's hard for these big-time guys to sell a "crate" engine that's set on kill without sacrificing at least one or two of those afore mentioned requirements.
