Title: Push throttle cable
Post by: 76Challenger on July 27, 2017, 07:34:04 PM
Need a new push type throttle cable for an 18 foot boat with a standard foot pedal and Holley carb. Anyone got any leads on where to pick one up and part numbers?

Its usually just a 33c cable.

Outboards, I/O's and V-Drives use them too.

Any local competent boat shop should have these, or can order them.

CP Performance and Jet Boat Performance for online/mail order.

and there are many others.

Great thanks! Any difference in the red or the black cables? All brands pretty comparable quality wise?

Not saying its an absolute thing for all black cables but all of the black jacketed Morse cables that i have purchased from Rex Marine have a stainless steel cable and are priced significant higher and last much longer than the red cables.

Same shit different manufacturers...

Red is no longer really a thing and they were the best IMHO. Morse were red, Teleflex were black.

It's now called Teleflex-Morse.... There are two different versions, brass and stainless, this refers to the end tubes... They last about the same in our applications. Stainless steel is normally reserved for salty environments, but the cost difference is negligible...

So I found these on Craigslist but the guy is not willing to help out a fellow boater and ship a 12 foot cable to central California...anybody have one they would send?

If so PM me with a price. Will send payment before you ship.

Buy a new one. I've used these on a few boats over the years with zero issues. $35 for a new 12ft 33c

How are these cables typically measured?  Jacket length, or overall length?

Grassy ass, I need a new/longer throttle cable.

It's the same cable for the reverse as well, correct?
