Hey everyone, i dont know much about carbs, what cfm is right for my motor, and the different flange styles...before the whole top of my motor was stolen a few months back, i had an offy TR and twin holly 650's, and the thing ran great!!!...since then, i have planned on building it back up w/ a single carb setup...
next week i will be buying a brand new victor for my BBF, so which flange style do i need to get? the 4150, or the other one? im not sure what cfm carb i should get in order for my motor to run strong for the next couple years. before, the thing had about 500hp w/ the dual setup it had. i really need to get this biatch running soon, so can anyone teach me some stuff? lol...
for the carb ill buy, i was thinking somewhere around 750-800cfm should do the trick. remember, i dont care for going fast as hell right now, i just want to enjoy it for the next few years, until i find out what i REALLY want to do down the road. i dont know anything about the cam specs, other than that it is BIG. alot of overlap, and power, i think the carbs i had, had manual choke on them, and they were double pumpers also...so i know i was flowing ALOT of fuel in there, it has 11.1 - 1 compression is what the previous owner told me...other than that, i have no more info on the motor. i didnt get a build sheet or anything...whats all yer advice? thanx alot for the help!
also, if anyone has a clean carb that is what i need, im very interested, thank you.

"Im so fockin pissed! my 76 eliminator jetboat got broken into last night at the storage facility in hawaiian gardens:mad: ...my BBF 'had' a high ram intake, 2 holley 650s, a scoop and 2 spark arresters...GONE!....some fockers somehow came in and unbolted the whole assembly and took it....they scratched the hell out of my nice gelcoat, now thats screwed up also...scratched up my nice bassetts, and tore the front vinyl engine cover...just before i was going to take it out also...heres a pic:"

you had to 650's right? so 1300cfm? 1050 dominator but thats just me O0

The 4150 flange is for Holley DoublePumpers and their single pumpers. Most, but not all, 4150 flanges will accept a Carter/Edelbrock carb also. Spreadbore flanges are for Spreadbore carbs, like the Rochester Quadrajet. A spreadbore flange will accept a 4150 carb with a very simple and very cheap adaptor that's usually about 1/8" thick. As far as I know dominator flange will only accept a Holley Dominator carb. I've heard several people say they like there Barry Grant carb and I have heard several say they hate their Barry Grant carb.
IMO the choice is simple, you liked what you had, it ran great, no brainer.

nice guys, thanx for the replies...i think im just going to go w/ the tunnel ram that i bought off of jim brock awhile back, and get twin 650s or something similar...i was going to switch to single carb but ill just spend a little more and keep her dual!...thanx for the advice...it sure cleared some chit up for me. i like the barry grant carbs, but they're way too expensive for me...one can wish lol :-\

For good bone stock remanufactured carbs, I highly recommend Lyle Stahle. He is a carb rebuilder / remanufacturer that rebuilds to Holley specs. Unless you want super race prepped carburetors ($$$) click HERE (http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZlstahle) and choose a set of quality remanufactured carbs. He even has package deals for tunnel ram carbs. Finally, if you don't see the carbs that you might want, then email him ("ask seller a question") and tell him what you'd like. Also, tell that him "Paul Kane" sent you and he'll take good care of you. ;)

hey paul that search on ebay is sweet! they have them powdercoated in colors also...thanx alot for that link!...much much less than i thought id be paying. ill check em out.
