Engine won’t start
« on: September 08, 2018, 12:57:25 PM »
2000 ultra jet boat with a 502 engine. Was running rough mid throttle last trip, took carb off and had it rebuilt.also changed rotor( have tried starting with old and new one)
Just put it back on it started ran for 30 seconds and died. Now it cranks strong, 6-7 psi fuel pressure, has spark at plug wire.
Anything else I should check?
Thanks

Check to see if your bowls in the carb have fuel if your not on level ground the primary's don't pick up fuel. Only speaking from experience it happened to me, if the primary doesn't have fuel it won't start it will just crank. Remove the screw to check the bowl to see if it has fuel and if not add fuel to it just enough until it barely starts trickling out the put screw back and you should be good.

Make sure the distributor is turning, pull cap and turn over. If turning over check the firing order.
