Any thoughts on reverse cooling. I'm pulling my engine in a couple days to inspect the bearings and maybe a cam change I currently have logs but I'm changing to headers that will be dry since I'm going to replumb the cooling system I was thinking about making it reverse cooled any tips on how I should plumb it would be appreciated

An idea for you, if this is the direction that you're thinking about:
On my Olds, I ran a "center feed" cooling set-up for several years: I removed the center freeze plugs on each side of the block, and made some inserts that allow me to feed water into the center freeze plug location on each side of the block. I tapped all four corners of the intake manifold for water outlet fittings, and tee'd the pairs together on each side (left, right), feeding two thru-transoms out the back, above the water line

What is the reason for wanting to run your headers dry? In my opinion there isn't enough gain on a pleasure boat to put up with the added noise and heat.
If your plan is to make it a race boat that's another story.
