So I am moving back to the east coast and the closest river looks like it has some salt content. Do I need to do any mods to run in salt water?

Mods , I dont think so . I just flushed mine with soapy water (dawn is my preference) for about 10 mins. with one of those pumps you hook an electric drill to . Dont forget to get yourself a toilet brush to get into the pump as far as you can . WD-40 the fuk out of everything too . You just cannot rinse enough. The salt will be EVERYWHERE !

If you're going to be running the boat, or putting your trailer in any salty water more than now and again, I'd say you get yourself some Salt Away, we use it on the race car @ Bonneville, the shit works, end.

I agree with Skip. Saltaway is the shit. My brother and I use it on his boat all the time when we come in from shark fishin. Thru the engine and outdrive, and also the boat itself ;D Mark

I've ran ours in the salt for years (pre rebuild) and have never had a problem other than the water splashed on the chrome headers would burn onto them. That and the salt that got splashed on the starter made it so I only got 3 years out of my cheapo Schucks starter.
With all that said, I haven't had the nerve to run the new setup in it yet but given we are 2+ hours from fresh water versus 5 minutes from salt water, I know next year I will......

Its all about the claening afterwards :'( its a pain in the arse, but a good wash AND flush!! and all is good. Its not one of those I'll do it tomorrow itll be alright kinda thing :sly: just my .02 Mark
