Title: Saddle tanks, Yeah another stupid question
Post by: 2savage4you on January 01, 2008, 03:55:30 PM
Can anyone tell me what go's between the fuel fills and the tanks as far as hose go's.

Can i use radiator hose or is there a special hose i have to use?

I am getting ready to install my tanks and need info ;D
I am using straps to hold the tanks in place.  Is there a better way of mounting them? When i got this project it was all in pieces so please bare with me and my questions ;D

Better use fuel like. Equal lengths to the "T" fitting that goes to the fuel pump.  Wish my bilge looked as nice as yours.

I've used regular hose . I dont think it needs to rated for fuel since fuel doesnt sit in it .

Rex Marine sells exactly what you need but between buy it by the inch and shipping.....

When I replaced mine , the old stuff WASN'T rated for fuel but it did last 20-30 years, so thats what went back in .

Yea they make special hose for that. I was told that it's expensive for what it is, I've never bought any. Regular hose should work fine unless you plan on filling the tanks and the hose with fuel before you store it.

I bought 3/8" fuel line at Auto Zone.  No big deal.

i went to the local parts store and told them i needed fuel filler neck hose, nice and thick shit rated for fuel and only cost about 20.00 a foot, i feel it was worth it just for the piece of mind

I had a new radiator hose in the shed, that was the right size and I didn't know what it went to so I cut it to fit.

When I went to the part store here in san diego , it was 20 a foot but they would only sell it in 6 foot lenghts so I bought a cheap radiator hose and just used that and it only cost me around 6. i have not had any problems with it.

Yep, get fuel filler hose. The std rubber line will start to fall apart after a few years, then all that crap is in the tank and then in your fuel system....
