Title: Scoop opinions needed
Post by: H20Nut21Bahner on February 19, 2015, 10:29:14 PM
Alright guys, looking for input. Bought this boat last year with the polished stainless scoop. The only downfall is, if I need to open the engine cover, I have to remove the scoop. Turns into a pain when I check the oil every morning when were out, or whatever the case may be.
Came across this one, so I'm looking for input as far as how others think it would look mounted to the top of the engine cover

I like the looks of scoop mounted to the engine cover, but it looks like you might have to build up a base for the scoop to clear the spark arrestor.

I think it would look good but depending on the scoop height you might run into an issue. Check out http://www.up22.com/scoopw2.htm

Check out the 210, 266, and 714. All bottom mount scoops so you pretty much could just set it on top of the cover and bolt it to the cover.

Either way I say go for it

That was my plan, bolt it to the top of the cover. Just double checked all my measurements again. That scoop would sit right on top of the spark arrestor, it's only 4" tall. That being the case, I'd have to build some sort of spacer, run a shorter spark arrestor, or take my carb spacer out.
I'd rather not run a shorter arrestor. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd rather not decrese flow/volume. Time to look at other options
