Loctite 565. The sticker shock is bad, but good product.

Sealants like Loctite 565 or teflon should only be used on pipe thread fittings, DO NOT use any sealant on flair type fittings (AN, inverted flair...).

This is true for AN on oil and fuel lines, but is always been my personal preference when used on water that something, even if it is something like never seize on the threads, will keep the moisture out of the threads and allow disassembly with little to no drama.

I have been using 565 on AN fittings for a very long time. An airplane mechanic I learned a lot from used a dry spray lube called Chemtech 10. I haven't seen it for years (probably a California thing)but it was some cool stuff. It went on foamy and dried to nothing. He said it prevented galling.

Thanks Glenn,

I'd just hate to see someone using pipe dope or even worse Permatex #1 on all their fittings due to lack of information on our part.
