I just got my latest issue of Popular Hot Rodding. They did a story on a guy who built an Olds for the 2012 EngineMasters Challenge. Dig this . . .
Take a generic Olds 350 diesel smal block and make 876 hp and 672 ft/lb @ 6200 rpm with a single carb. Oh yeah !

It takes a lot of machine work and tuning. But those blocks are bullet proof.
