We are getting ready to install our logs and snails. We have a bb chevy 454. What types of bolts should we use to install them?

It is my humble opinion that standard ol' grade 5 bolts with star washers work just fine, I like a little never seize on the shoulder to keep them from corroding to the aluminum.
If you want to get more trick, go with cadmium plated grade 8's, not for the extra strength, but for the superior corrosion protection over the zinc on the galvanized bolts, just keep in mind, cadmium bolts are made overseas because the US outlawed any cadmium plating to "protect us"...
Good luck, sounds like your getting close. 8)

Thanks GT. And yeah we are getting pretty close. It has just gotten tougher with school, homework, wrestling, scouts.... We try to squeeze in time whenever we can. Can't wait to get it in and fired up.

Tio, you know where King Bolt is off of Grand? That's usually where I get my bolts. X2 on the cad plated stuff. (didn't know those were coming from overseas though)
-
I know King Bolt well. Too well if you know what I mean $$. I think cad is the way we will go. Thanks

Getting ready to install the exhaust but was not sure about using a lockwasher or threadlock etc. What do you guys use?

I use lock washers, stay away from the thread lock might be some what difficult trying to remove the bolts, did you go with stainless hardware if so make sure you use anti seize.

We did not go with stainless for now. probably change that soon enough though. Should the standard bolts take any kind of coating like oil, anti seize etc?

X2 on No thread locker... I use split lock washers and a little nickle based anti seiz.
