So I'm looking at cams for my new engine.
It'll be mild for now so I can get it in the water cheap and fast.
8.5 - 9:1 BBC
Edelbrock Performer 2.0
Edelbrock 750 (1407)
781 heads mild MILD port work(mainly gasket matching and a little bit of unshrouding)
Bassett OT headers
Looking at Comp Cams, but open to whoever as long as it's a quality cam.
This one might be a little big for now: (solid)

Bump the compression to 10:1 and you might be OK, unless you are going be running over 5,500 RM, stay hydraulic roller..

Both of those cams are way too big for what you are looking to do.
I would recommend the Schneider Racing JB-3H . They are out of san diego and have been making cams since the 70s or 80s cant remember right now.
224* / 230* .540"/ .540" on 112. Just put this in a 468 BBC and pulled 500 HP at 5500 with headers. The cams you listed will peak power too high for what you need in a jet boat.

Roller is out of the budget for now, as is a CR bump. I'll go back through the bottom end at a later date. It's a stock Berk with an A cut, it'll never see over 5k.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into it.
Nothing I've found in a catalog seems to hit the sweet spot, they're either tiny, or they rev too high.
