Spare parts?

What spares do you keep on hand while on the water? Back at the dock? At home?
Suggestions for a BBF with a 12J?

Never hurts to have a spare boat.....lol

I cannot improve on the suggestions you have already but will give it a try. I keep a spare fuel filter, couple of spark plugs, some electrical tape, section of electical wire, and a spare bolt used to connect the steering rod to the steering arm on the pump. I have had to replace the bolt once but used none of the other parts. You cannot carry everything but it makes sense to have the basics if you need to patch something to get back to the dock and do not have friends to tow you back. Just my $ .02

don't forget a spare drain plug and fuse's or breakers if your boat has them.

if your boat was a v-drive i would say packing for the shaft seal, don't ask why...

........Small roll of solid core elecrical wire (Can be used to wire something in an emergency or to tie something up, replace a clip, etc), spare coil, spare Ballast resistor (If so equipped, even then, wired mine into a guy's boat once with an MSD6 to get him back to the dock, so I always carry one), hose clamps, squeeze bottle with fuel in it, piece of heater hose, and extra bolts for the cable connections on the jet.

Sure I'm forgetting a few not taking inventory on my boats......

In the little boat I only keep an oar and a fire extinguisher. I wear the jacket.

The big boat is different. But even then, for troubles and maintenance I carry a small craftsman tool set 100pc and a few extra plugs (water plugs not spark plugs).

Must haves for "on the boat"...

Roll of electrical tape,
roll of duct tape,
a length of wire,
fuses,
length of hose of all sizes on the boat,
can of spray lube,
tube RTV silicone,
belt(s),
jumper cables,
jumper wires with alligator clips,
ratchet strap,
chain (have made motor mounts with it...),
a handful of random nuts, bolts and washers,
control cable ends,
Holley gaskets and a spare needle and seat,
small jar of Marine Tex,
push rods (one long, one short),
rocker arm (stocker)
and just because it has come in handy a few times already, an MSD ready to run dizzy.......

As far as the parts and crap I keep in the motor home, Brad does not have enough server space.....

I have brought everything from a spare carburetor to an extra set of heads.....And yes, I have a problem $:-\$

On the dock, big ass fire extinguisher, can of wasp spray

, magnet on a rope....

Glenn, you must be talking to the guys that actually have room to store extras on the boat

For us that have a hard time just fitting some towels and small cooler will have to stick with a good tow rope and cash $$$

More......
- spare rotor, points & condenser if you have them
- cheapie spare distributor assembly if you have electronic ignition. You can cannibalize what you (think) need on the water, or drop the whole thing in if you're confident in your ability to do that while on the water.
- a spare piece of exhaust hose equal to the longest length on your boat. This assumes that you're running logs/snails or center-rise exhaust.

Gonna need a support barge....
