Post by: Scottycox on September 26, 2012, 09:21:31 AM
Hey guys so I had a small issue on Sunday at elsinor . One of my msd wires caught on fire and the others look like they started to melt as well. My temp gauge said 160 on the dash but it was way hotter than that . Any ideas or suggestions ....

well usually when wires burn its cause they have touched the exhaust! as far as your temp i would see if you can barrow another gauge to test with. if its not the gauge the sending unit is prob your culprit.

Sounds like it was touching ur exhaust.. Get a new set of wires and make sure they arnt touching when you install them.  If some are closer then others to your exhaust and you cant move them away then you can get little heat shields that slide over the park plug wire to avoid melting.
