Title: Spark Plugs
Post by: flytime on May 01, 2008, 08:02:09 PM
Thinking about putting some new plugs in this weekend. They havent been changed in a while. Anybody have any suggestions. Its a bone stock 454 BBC. How the hell do I know what to gap them at? What flavor shoud I get? Seems like everytime I go to the parts store these guys dont know chit. I am sure Marc is an exception to this rule ;D.

I used A/C Delco R44XLS in my last BBC. If you have an HEI or other high output ignition I'd gap them around 45, if you have points I'd gap them around 30.

If you want a few extra ponies and a little easier starting and idle look at the DiamondFireE3's. There spendy but have proved themselved everytime. For the budget minded (who isnt) NGK makes a really nice plug

I used accell 8198's and cause my entire ignition is MSD I gapped them at .050 like MSD suggested. And I just put them in about two hours ago. The 8198's are a header plug so they are a bit smaller. Alot of the muffler shops in my area buy them from us constantly.

Thanks for the reply's gents. Went with the Diamond Fire E3's. In the words of MR. Ralph Brunt "Cheap aint good and good aint cheap" or something like that ??? Put them in today, hopefully get a chance to try them out next weekend or so.
