Title: Starter
Post by: jonnyboy92 on August 05, 2017, 01:03:21 PM
When I try and start the boat , it will crank a cpl of times then stops.  The neg post on the battery melted . I cleaned connections , got a new battery and even had the starter checked. It tested ok , however once back on the boat , the starter engaged for a few seconds then just stops.

Am I correct in that it is still the starter ? That it's just going out ? Or am I missing something

Check to see if there's fuel or water in the cylinders

And then make sure both battery terminals are very tight and that the starter wire and ground wire to the block are both tight

Everything else seems fine ... I think the starter is starting to go
