Steering wheel adapter
« on: March 04, 2016, 11:53:30 AM »
Good afternoon everyone! Happy Friday, my pops and I just bought a new steering wheel for our 77 eliminator mini day but the adapter it came with is round with two key ways and the rack shaft? Is sqare and tapered. Do they sell different shafts? Do we have to replace the rack and everything all together?

I ran into the same problem. u can find a 3 bolt steering adaptor for that square taper but that's it . What I did is take tha adaptor u have  and milled it to fit ...
Or replace outdated rack ...

That is a Mercury Ride Guide steering set up.

Have the same one in the Southwind.

I may have what you need but need to scope it out.

If you even think you have a cable issue, swap it for a newer set up. You'll be glad you did. Those old Ride Guide  systems were pretty good, but if the center bolt was ever left loose they get really funky and tear up the plastic bearings,  then they are all floppy.

I'll check later to see what I have for that. I think the last boat I parted out had a Quicksilver system  (same chit).

Pulled everything out this morning with the pops and we are just gunna put all new shit in the old orange bomber! The cable itself is in great shape and still slides very smooth! It 17'6" cable if anyone needs one!
