Title: starter problems/need help
Post by: neonsport97 on May 08, 2010, 06:26:56 PM
I have a 77 jet boat with a berkeley jet drive.  It had an olds 307 and we changed it out and put a olds 403 in it.  The 403 turns significantly harder than the 307 and somtimes the starter wont turn it over. It has an indmar bellhousing on it and I was wondering if anyone knew somewhere to get a hi-torque starter for it.   Thank you, Kyle

I have a 72 tahiti jet boat with a 455 olds.  I just bought a starter from the local auto parts store and it works fine.  You can also get your starter tested to see if it works correctly under a load.

I'd get the starter tested.  Sometimes with a rebuild the trouble comes with it.   :banghead:
