Title: Starter sound like it needs a shim?
Post by: mr45revolver on December 12, 2017, 03:53:02 PM
Hey fellas! Was having issues with my starter making noises so i pulled it off and found one of the bolts was broken. Got new starter bolts and had the starter tested at AutoZone and they said it's fine. I put it back on and it's still making the noise. Does this sound like it might need to be shimmed?

Sounds like the starter pinion is over extending , shim it out a little

If it's conventional mount, be sure to be using "starter bolts". Yes, it makes a difference. Good luck, Sir.
