Title: Steering question
Post by: Hddaddy on April 14, 2014, 07:39:52 PM
This may be the question of the century. I have water traveling through my cable housing and coming out of my rack under dash. Seems to be happening at idle and/or at slow speed only. Pito tube on speedometer is good and not leaking. Any thoughts.

Clean it out run some penetrating oil in it....then consider this to your steer tube.

Cable is 1 year old and already has one of those.

If you take the cable seal off, does the water drain out?

Disconnect the pitot tube for the speedo and drive it again.

I have a stupid hard time believing it is coming from the cable.  :sly:

I thought the same. But I had someone else drive while I looked and the pito and Speedo did not leak. Pulled rubber cap off of rack and water drains out.

Something is amiss.... :-

No doubt.
There shouldn't be that much water in there with the bow up nearly all the time and much less under way.
