Title: stiff steering
Post by: Paul on June 26, 2010, 09:46:28 AM: My steering has gotten really stiff on my jet boat. Is this something you can have lubed or do you just replace cable ?

Post by: bac Tahiti on June 26, 2010, 09:58:21 AM: I had the same problem. I took off the steering cable on the outside of the jet drive. Put a hose over the cable and clamped it with hole clamps. Poured Liquid Wrench in the hose and put a made a cap with a small hole in it and clamped it onto the hose. Took my air compressor and put 10 psi on it and pushed the liquid wrench into the cable. Has worked for years.....

X2. Not that expensive, and this is one o dem dare extreme safety issues...... :screwy:

Post by: Paul on June 27, 2010, 03:59:37 PM: Okay i agree just buy another / but where i live in San Diego and the only places i find i can get stuff for jet boats is Rex Marina and Hardin perfomance and nither show steering cables / thanks going to Havasu this Weekend so i am running out of time

i used this for price matching at west marine and it worked like a charm!

Post by: Your Mom on June 27, 2010, 06:08:06 PM: You can also get a fitting that has a zerk on it for the outside threaded shaft. I have one on and it keeps the water out and well lubed.....
