Post by: steves86ta on August 18, 2016, 12:26:43 PM
My Brother in law is buying a boat that has a bone stock 460 in it. Stock down to the points distributor.

What things should i look at/for? He wants to leave it stock and just use it as a cruiser.

anything i should know?

Change out the points for a pertronix electronic conversion kit with matching coil with the matching coil you can remove the ballast resistor.

I'm just pulling your Ford.

He'll I've owned a jet with a 360 AMC, who the hell am I bashing.

Bought the boat sight unseen,  missing a carburetor for $200. Grabbed a carburetor out of a junk puke and used the boat every weekend for almost a year.

Lmao

What's the update about this Ford?

Havent had it out since the first trip...

Pulled the carb off and it was a special kind of fucked up...

I dont remember for sure. But i think the primary side was jetted 80 secondary 68 (from memory, something like that). Had a 4.5 pv... All kinds of crap in it, secondary booster leaked at idle...

Rebuilt the carb, squared away the jetting (70/80 6.5pv) and put it back together

On the trailer it seems to run much much better.

Did a compression test and scared myself, between 100-110 psi. Thought the engine was toast... Did some research and if its the early smog truck engine like i think it is... thats normal...

Gonna run it this weekend, see how it does with the carb fixes.
