I'm going to be rigging up my southwind soon, I already have motor plates and pillow blocks I just need the rails. I already purchased some 2x2x3/8 alum angle but It seems everyone is running 1/4"? Advise please? What is everyone here running?

3/8 here...

3/8 will work, but 1/4 is enough.
I have 1/4" in the race boat. they extend from the transom to the front bulkhead. everything is mounted to them....motor, tank, seat, pedals, etc.....and they see a ton of abuse, never had an issue.

Im using 2x2x1/4 in my daytona.

Ok, thanks guys. Anyone have any idea what the weight difference would be? I thought about having slots and holes milled in the rails to lighten them up so I didn't have to buy a new set of rails. Thoughts?

Some of the sold kits have slots milled in them. Never heard of it hurting anything.
