Title: This must be old school
Post by: 2savage4you on February 04, 2008, 02:05:51 PM
Or maybe Bo and Luke Duke were puting my engine together , i wonder where the spit is ???

But seriously is this common with the double timing chain on a BBC some type of locking system?

looks to me like safety wire, Bo and Luke be damned, that's a good idea.

Very common in differentials and I think required in some other places .

Bullet proof - It's a requirement on aircraft to safety wire bolts....  I doubt if Bo or Luke would have had time, let alone think about such a good safety device.

Done correctly the wire exits the bolt in the pulling/tightening direction. They have pliers that will twist the wire right up for you, done in a jiffy.

That was a fine job. Now if it was done with duct tape that would be a different issue...

I think I need to explain...
The referance was to the RED GREEN SHOW http://www.redgreen.com/ (http://www.redgreen.com/)
They always use Duct Tape to solve everything...  and I do mean everything.
Funny show, but maybe only to us canadians  ;D  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fh5XVPSx9Dk&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fh5XVPSx9Dk&feature=related)
