Title: Thread seal

What are you guys using to seal brass threads on gasoline applications? There's gotta be something better than teflon to withstand fuel and I'm sure my local O'reilly's has it.

The teflon worked for my shakedown today and I kept the tape off where the threads start so I don't get shreds in the system. The factory stuff was a red clay-like compound.

have you seen the liquid teflon???? it works really well.

I use a product that we use at work all the time, called Vibra Seal not something you will find at o rielly though

Use a fuel rated thread sealant. Permatex makes one. Most autoparts stores carry it, it is white in color.
We also used a liquid thread sealants for fuel tanks at my old shop but for the life of me I can't remember what it was, formula something

Aviation  form  a gasket  is what i have used, formulated to withstand fuel and oreillys has it in stock, made by permatex. It comes in a little can with a brush, it never really hardens and makes removing the fittings easy too, never had a leak with this stuff with any kind of fuel

You know, I already bought a can there last weekend to replace gaskacinch when I put new gaskets on for water inlets on my block.. stuff doesn't strike me as being very thick, but by all rights should do the job for brass threads.

Bad thing about the #3 aviation sealant is that it will always be susceptible to gasoline. Though if the threads are in good shape brass shouldn't leak at all. I'm going the route of a gasoline resistant, non-hardening gasket sealer I found at O'reilly's that's a generic version of Permatex Motoseal.
