I recently replaced the stringers in my boat (what a job that was) and would greatly appreciate more experienced members knowledge/opinions.  I measured the original locations of the engine mounts to the stringer before replacing them.  Now that I have new stringers I have a starting point for location but am unsure of angle.  Should I try to match the angle of the mounts to that of the jet shaft?  Also, can the height above the jet can be increased (~1/4") to make a little more pan clearance?  I'm not sure it makes any difference but I have a Berkeley jet, olds engine, and standard double U joint connection.  I have read a few things on the forums but haven't come across a really conclusive discussion.

 I did a 3 degree difference when I put in my new stringers. Used a Harbor Freight angle finder. I also read that if it's inline with the jet shaft with no angle for the u-joints to roll that it may have a vibration.
