About 9 months ago I tore down a 1976 trihull with a chevy 350 / jet drive. Now that it is going back together, I can't remember how the throttle cable was hooked up to the carb (Rochester quad) or the foot pedal. I have a new throttle cable going in and kind of starting over. The cable connected from the transom side. Looking for pics if anyone has anything similar.
Are there "standard" cable brackets or is it a figure it out as you go thing.
Am I making any sense?
-
Also, one end of the cable has a longer "shaft" than the other end. Does it matter which end goes where?
-
Not sure bud, but pics go a long way for any of us to help you out. No matter whatt setup you have.
-
Do you have a hand throttle or a foot throttle?
Post some pics of the cable, the throttle assembly and the parts you have for a mount at the carb. With the pics we should be able to get you pointed in the right direction.

Trying to post pics, having slight difficulties.
-
Two different people trying from two different computers, won't post, just goes back to "New topic" after couple minutes.
-
you need to resize the pics smaller to post good luck
-
Resize....exactly, looked into that yesterday....no computer wiz here.
-
I have 3 pics, each one is 3.3 MB or less, the message is get is they need to be less than 700MB. 3.2 is less than 700.
-
I think its 700kb, no?
-
How do I convert from mb to
-
Email me the pics, irrebel@cox.net, or use photobucket, which is what I'm gonna do with them anyway.

not sure if this will help you ? but....my cable comes in from the back of motor and pushes..you can do it either way, you have different places to mount your cable on throdle
-
Rebel, I sent the pics last night...German, that pic is close, looking for what bracket you have and how it holds the cable,
Thanks.

its a holley bracket but theres tons of others you can choose from. i probably spent way toooo much on mine, and i still had to rig the cable....

best pic i have right now, plate gets sandwiched between carb and intake. you'll need a new gasket for the carb to plate, but u can silicone between plate and intake. clip goes onto plate, cable gets clipped in. ball gets mounted to carb throttle, quick disconnect gets threaded onto cable, adjust accordingly. secure with lock nut. enjoy boating.

In this one, the bracket laying on the floor, yeah gets bolted to a cable plate that mounts under the carburetor. But it doesn't look like that engine ever had that set up. The brackets on your engine, above, look to me like a traditional throttle linkage/kickdown set up from a car or truck. The third link KA0tyk posted is what that other bracket bolts to, either above or below the plate depending on push or pull setup. The bracket on the cable there must be for on your throttle pedal.
