Title: Timing chain advance/ retard?

Just wondering if anyone has played around with this feature? I have a mild 454 running a comp cam xm flat tappet cam, just wondering if I advanced the timing 4' on the cam chain will there be a beneficial Hp increase, or should I just leave it in the "o" position (stock timing marks)?

Super tricky to answer.

99 times out of 100, aftermarket camshafts are ground 4° advanced. Your Comp Cam included. Meaning in most cases they would be installed "straight up" (but are ultimately advanced 4°).

Without a degree wheel,  clearance putty and the knowledge on how to set it up properly without valve to piston interference,  I would say the three to ten hp isn't worth it.
