Alright. I am in the process of redoing some things on my motor. The manifold and thermostat housing being one of them. On my motor now I have coming out of the water outlets where the water pump usually gos is a "t" coming out of each hole connecting the 2 in the center and a "T" in the middle with another hose going to the top of the thermostat housing. So there are 3 hoses coming out of the thermostat housing. Is there a benefit to this? I was looking at pics of other bbc motors and they all only have 2 hoses coming out of thermo housing. Confused on what I should do?

tom so right now mine (460) goes from pump to T then to front of  exhaust manifolds, then front of exhaust manifolds to where water pump was then t stat to risers.

can i run from pump to water pump area fittings first to be colder??

thats how mine was setup before i replumbed. did you try opening the valve on the pump a little more to cool it a little first?

it was plumbed how you are asking. it went from the jet to the block, instead of preheating in the log first. i went and re-plumbed it the proper way, and noticed no warmer temps.

So,--- mine comes from the pump, into the exhaust manifolds, out to the former water pump inlets, then out of the thermosat housing, and back to the exhaust manifolds and exits out there. It seems to work, so is this correct? I guess you could say that my system pre-heats the water before it enters the engine itself. I do not run a thermostat, and I adjust the water flow to keep the engine at 150-165 degrees.
