ive got my motor back in the boat after rebuilding everything but there are a couple wires in the distributor. one wire is disconnected and have no idea where it goes. the other wire is connected though. also the distributor is not set in the same spot as when we pulled it out. i know it needs to be pointing to number one but now the cap doesnt fit on correctly . does anybody have any info ??

no he didnt run the motor. he said he put it to tdc and pointed it to number 1. but now i cant get the cap on right.

i got it on right. did some tinkering and had a buddy help me out. almost got it started yesterday but the ignition wire burned up. we redid all the wiring and since the previous owner wired everything together with tape i think it wasnt getting enough power to the ignition. now its getting 12 volts to the ignition and having no resister in there isnt gonna work. i ordered a pertronix electric ignitor kit on monday so hopefully i will have it running this weekend  thanks a lot for your help though man. appreciate it
