UPDATE Picked up 10 mph, but not done
« on: June 25, 2010, 07:46:31 PM »
My first jet boat is a bit of a project. It has a vacumme seconday Holly that was not allowing the secondarys to open. I bolted up the linkages so that the secondarys have to open with throttle movement. Before, the boat ran 40 MPH@ 4000RPM. Now it runs 50-52 @4600 RPM's. I also have the entire interior out now to be re-done, so the boat is 200-250 lbs lighter than before. It has alot better holeshot, and no where near as bad of porposing as it did. Plus, now it shoots a rooster tail worthy of makeing a YouTube video. It still leaks water around the front seal of the pump, and the impeller shaft throws it all over, so that needs to be adressed, but things are getting better. It still runs 3200RPM at 30-32 MPH on 2 barrels, and only get terrible gas milage,--not terrifying!  Hopefully with a bit more work, I can get it up to about 5200 RPM's at WOT, and run close to 60, which would be about enough for me, and this boat. Any ideas, would help, Thanks, Rick
