correct plumbing

I'm in need of some assistance on correctly plumbing my exhaust on a 454. I know the basics but the new logs I put on have different holes then I am used to. There are 2 holes at the front (1 above and 1 below), 1 towards the back on the bottom and 1 below the snail. Surely I don't need all 4? I only have 3 lines to each side. WTH? Help please.

Pics will help....There might be an extra spot to run a line into the bottom sides of your block or might have been used to drain em. I have seen logs use rear fittings as well front cominig in from pump. Two lines in from pump T to logs, two lines out of logs to front of motor then two lines out from t-stat/manifold to snails.

A drain sounds logical. I 'll see if I can't get a pic. If that is the case, of the two holes in the front of the manifolds, which would be the cold water? Top or Bottom? I appreciate your help.

heres how i had mine back when i had logs

feed cold in from pump from the back of the log, out warmed up from the front into front of block, out of top of block thru housing and dumped out of the snail and goes out the transom.

Here's mine on Pickle. 454 also. Cold water in the bottom front, out the top front to the engine, water outlet lines go to the OT pipes. Snails in your case. No idea what the ones on the back are for, but a drain sounds like a very logical, and good idea.
