I've got a question about how all the water lines hook up to the logs, I've got logs with over the transome exhaust and I believe the logs have a water hookup in the front and one or two hookups at the rear of them and one more on the exhaust that go over the transome about a foot from the end of the exhaust. I remember a while back someone posting a picture of how to hook this up but I can't find it on here now. If I remember right the water gets warmer as it goes thru each of the water inlets on the logs. Is this if you aren't using a thermostat and you need the warmer water going thru the motor. Can I skip the water ports in the logs and go right from my 4 port thermostat housing w/ a 180 degree thermostat in it to the over the transome exhaust water hookup or do I still need to hook up to all the log connections no matter what. If anyone knows where I can find that diagram of the logs with water lines could you hook me up thanks much

For the record, logs with OT's route as follows (with t-stat);
From the jet pump to a tee, from the tee to both exhaust logs,
back out of the logs and into a tee at the water inlets of the block (X2),
the outlet of that tee to the top two ports in the stat housing,
the bottom two t-stat housing ports to the OT pipes.

Yes it does, this helps warm the engine up too, if done right, they only warm the water up about 30*F, keeps the shock of cold water out of the engine too...

Why would you skip them?, the logs are aluminum and would last about an hour with no water. I hope I missed something there, use a 160*F stat, 180 is too warm IMO

I need to qualify my recomendation of the 180* versus 160* stat... :)
At 180* water temp with no water treatment (just lake/river water), the organic compounds, salt, silica, lime, mud, algae and anything else that can be in the water, can stick or solidify in the hottest parts of the engine,
making the engine hotter, causing more and more contamination in the water system.
160* on the other hand, should help eliminate this problem, the manufacturers years ago, used to use a 140* stat for just this reason...Soooo now you know... ;)
