Finally took out my boat for the first time on the water had a question regards cooling , temp was below 100 cruising about 35 mph at 3500 rpm (testing waters) with a panther jet pump ford 460. When idling to the no wake the temp would rise to about 140-150 once I would dock and go out after about 10 min the temp would shoot up to about 200 exiting the no wake till I would rev up to 3500 it would slowly start going down to  100 .  I have no thermostat no valve whatsoever and Eddie marine thru transom manifolds.  Was I steaming the block?  It doesn't have a lot of get up and go unless I go up to 3500 then it starts going unless this is normal.

There's a lot more involved putting a cam drive water pump on a ford than a Chevy! Have ur pump looked at I don't know much about panther pumps but it doesn't sound right to me! And I would also add at least one dump and try to get the engine temp up more while cruising!

So could possibly be a worn pump? Cruising at 35 mph it's fine just after docking and going back out is when I noticed it rose up to almost 200 then I reached out of no wake and it shot back down

one other thing that i did with my panther was i took the stock 3/16" fitting out and tapped a 1/2" AN fitting into the pump and ran a full 1/2" from the pump into the motor.

Good idea to open up the inlet. I run -10 fittings an 5/8 hose throughout my cooling. Might also want to pull the drains on the block and flush out the debris...I usually get a bunch of sand every season out. It takes a while with on/off hose water to keep the water flowing with the sand to get most out. You can use a straw or big zip tie shoved in the block drain to keep the sand loose around it. I also keep the gate valve all the way open all the time on my BBF.

I just rebuilt the engine I drained and got tanked the block myself and emptied out the lbs of sand that was in it from the guy I bought the block from so I'm sure the block is clean. Bigger fittings should do the trick ?
