OK so I gave him a call and asked him how he did the job. He said he put the fittings on the engine (or whatever part he was working on at the time), coated the end of the fitting that gets the hose with dish soap, heated the hose with a hair dryer, and shoved the hose onto the end. He said you get one shot to shove the hose on all of the way and if it doesn't go on all of the way you have to cut the hose off and try again. You can't partially install the hose onto the end and "work it on" the rest of the way. Hope that helped.

Well Rod, I'll let you know later on today or tomorrow.  Thanks.

I've never done braided lines and these aren't easy at all.  I think, once it's all done, it should look pretty good.

We use boiling water to soften the hose and heat the fitting, then quickly shake the water off both then spray on a teflon based gun-lube on both the fitting and inside of the hose. Then with the fitting in a vice, shove it in. Works every time, especially on the larger fittings. I think teflon-based gun lube is registered and restricted in NewYork(Hillary's)state. Get it bootlegged in from elsewhere (the red states).  TIMINATOR

Hell, if it's outlawed in NY you can bet it started here in California.  I think they are trying to outlaw the air we breath.  I'll try one of the gun shops and see what I can find.  These things are a beitch to push.

Now I know this may sound funny but try some personal lube (k-y, astroglide). Thats some of the slickest stuff that I can think of. O0

Well, I guess I'm going to have to find something else to use and put this stuff on the shelf.  I've tried all the suggestions and I'll be damned if I can get this hose to slip on the fittings.  DAMN IT!!  :banghead:  :banghead:

Not to be a smart ass, but did you get "push on hose" to match the fittings? I'm not sure if it makes a difference but when I bought mine the guy made sure I got the right stuff.  If I was closer I'd come and help you.

Just a thought

I bought both the hose and the fittings (with the exception of one) from Dave at sweetperformance.com  http://www.sweetperformance.com/product/index.php  Suppose to be 3/8 AN-6 for both.  They come close to pushing on but I lack about 1/4" to fully seat.  Hell, I'm ready to send this stuff out to be done.

Well if you got it from Dave, you got the right stuff, if you're only issue is the hose not "seating" on the fitting, you've got no worries, the stuff on my boat didn't bottom out, I called my supplier and he assured me that as long as you get both barbs in the hose, with a little hose past the closest barb, you'll be fine. That's what I went with, the fuel line stuff went on like butter, the water lines are a little, about 1/4" shy.

This is fuel line and I'm ready to ship it back and exchange for braided.

I used that stuff on a Camaro I built up. I set the hose out in the sun for an hour to make it pliable and then I just spit on the hose end and the end of the hose and slid it on in a twisting motion and it went on with a lot of effort but got it seated. got braided on most of my lines now. still a few more to go. Braided is easier but more costly. Also need to follow a couple of rules on braided or it will puncture the cr*p out of your fingers.
