So I'm in the process of replacing the starter on my 4.3 volvo. I know I need to use a marine starter so I go online and search and come up with several options in the $50-$75 range that all say they are marine starters. When I call my local shop they quoted me $250 for a marine starter. That's a huuuuge price gap... So are the ones I am finding online not really marine starters? or is the shop stacking huge profit margins? Can anybody fill me in here? I want a decent marine starter for my application but I would also like to save $200 if possible. Thanks in advance, any help is greatly appreciated 😁👍😎

Never seen a Marine starter for 50-70 bucks. Have yours rebuilt

I'm pretty sure the starter that is currently on there is not the right one. Just bought the boat. Third pic is of the starter on there now. I've never seen a starter with 3 holes like that and only one bolt holding it on. Pretty sure mine is supposed to have the staggered bolt setup.

Absolutely! I'll probably have time to take it off tomorrow. I'll take some pics and send them your way.
